XpresReview

UGS has released XpresReview – Friday, March 11, 2005.

This is a free software package that will allow companies to collaborate easier. Acording to the article, you can bundle UGS’ Packaged Collaboration Files, PDF documents, other office documents, together as a single file.

Packaged Collaboration File allow everyone to view the 2D/3D product data. This is a significant advancement. By providing this format with free tools to support it, this should become the prefered format. Similiarly to how we use PDF formats today.

XpresReview works well. It is the viewer that is free. In order to create the product collaboration files, you must buy a license.

This is an excellent way to send information to vendors as they can review both the model and drawings. They can also measure, section, and markup the images.

Best benefit is that you don’t have to guess whether they received a “good” translation. And by the way, who is responsible for the translated version being correct?
