Referencing Attributes in Notes and Annotation

Lets say we have some part Attributes (File -> Properties -> Attributes (tab) ). One of the attributes name is: PART_NUMBER, which is assigned to: 2134569.

We are in Drafting and have a note we want to use on all our drawings, so we create a text file called lets say, standardnote.txt. Using a simple text editor like Notepad, or wordPad we add a line. The Part Name is: .

While in drafting drag this text file (standardnote.txt in this case) and drop it onto the drawing. There you have it, a note that reads your part attributes on your drawing. Change the Part attribute and the note changes. Add this same part attribute to each drawing and your standard notes are done, and as long as you have the part attributes in the part, they will display correctly.

If you don’t want to go through the hastle of creating a text file, edit an annotation note and add and it will display that part attribute. Replace the part_attribute_name with the name of the actual part attribute.

  1. [...] Very similiar to Part Attributes except we use the syntax of: . where the X0.10 is the number of decimals to display. 10 is the most you can display. So to show the expression Length that has a value of 5.25000000 to look like: 5.25 you would put in . [...]
