Context menus just aren’t cutting it for you, wish you had icons instead?
As we covered in a previous article, right-click menu’s have been around for some time in NX. The right-click menu is also used as a context menu. This also has been around and has gone through numerous enhancements. In addition to the menu your formiliar with if you hold the button down instead of just clicking it, you’ll be presented with a radial icon pop-up representation of the most commonly used actions. This is in-context to what you are hovered over.
These icons are the same options you would see in a toolbar. Plus when you use this a few times you’ll get used to where the buttons are located and you don’t even have to look in that direction anymore. Simple right-click and go in one of the eight positions and let go. You don’t need to wait for the icons to display, just click, hold, move, release.
Also when you are displaying the icon pop-up and you hover the icon it will give you feedback of what this icon action is. For example, it would say “Edit Parameters…”
When you highlight an option in the radial pop-up, check the tool tip for instructions.
