NX3 adds context menu with the 3rd mouse button action on objects
What is a context menu? And what does it have to do with objects?
Objects are anything that is displayed on the screen. For example: a line, solid, surface, note, etc.. What is new is that when you right-click or use the 3rd mouse button on the object it shows a menu that is relevent to that object. This is something that has been around in another form. Prior to this you had to select the object then right-click to get the context menu. Now one less click, simply hover over the object (preselection enabled) and right-click. You’ll get the same effect. More objects use this context menu approach. Maybe all of them do now, not exactly sure about that.
What else is new? if you hold the right-button down instead of simple clicking it you’ll see the icon based context menu. This is the most commonly used operations for that specific object you have hovered over.
This may not seem like an earth shattering change, but it does eliminate one less click per edit, and keeps your mouse on the screen. So you don’t have to move the mouse around too much. Also if you addd up all the edits that are done in a single day, this is a great time saver.
