NX Export Formats

NX can export the following formats: (Packaged with NX3, other export formats provided by other vendors)

Part -NX part file, with or without parameters (.prt)

Parasolid -Solid body with no parameters, used to import into other Parasolid aware programs (.x_t or .xmt_txt)

User Defined Feature -User built/defined feature, any group of features and solids not in core NX (.prt special format, was .udf)

CGM -2d black&white image, will result in many lines to represent the view (.cgm)

STL -Stereo Lithography of the solid body/sheet body, used for 3D printers (.stl)

Polygon File -special 3D format (.ply)

Author HTML -Create HTML pages with images of the views (.htm)

Teamcenter Visualization -JT based solid representation of the solid body (.jt)

VRML -Virtual Reality Model, represent solid body for web based applications (.wrl not commonly used anymore)

PNG -Vector based color image format (.png)

JPEG -Compressed color image (.jpg)

GIF -Color image (.gif)

TIFF -color image (.tif)

BMP -Pixel based color image (.bmp)

IGES -3D wireframe (.igs)

STEP203 -3D sheetbody (.stp standard 203)

STEP214 -3D sheetbody (.stp standard 214)

DXF/DWF -AutoCad Drawing Export Format (.dxf or .dwg)

2D Exchange -Used to mostly convert to and from AutoCad format (.prt, .dxf, .dwf, or igs)

Heal Geometry -3D solid body, fixes missing and overlapping sheet bodies into solid bodies (.prt)

V4 CATIA Solids -3D Catia V4 file format (.model)

These formats are availalable from UGS, some of these formats require additional licenses to use, prices vary depending on the supplier of the export format.
