Multiple Graphics Windows

Tired of changing views to work on a different area? Or do you need to keep a specific view displayed for reference?

NX3 brings you “Multiple Graphics Windows”. This is only available on the Windows platform and only available within Gateway and Modeling as of NX3, NX4 and beyond will have more application support.

So what is this? There has been a option called layout for a long time, where you can display multiple views on the screen at the same time (view->layout->open or new). This new feature allows you to have multiple windows open. Then you can minimize, arrange, close, maximize, etc these windows. I never used the layout feature a whole lot, but this new graphics windows option may be handy. Create a new window, shade it, orient it to a specific view, then minimize it, Work on model in the other window, and flip between the two quickly to see the progress. This would speed up the time from shading, orienting, switching layers on and off, then undo the changes and continue to work. All designers have adapted they way we work to overcome this by getting acustomed to working in less then desirable views. Now there is no reason not to have what you want to see always and your construction view the other times.

It is very intuitive to use this, to make a window the current focus, select it.

To get a new graphics window:
Window->New Window-> select view of the new graphics window

This window is a first class citizen of every other window. Meaning you can rotate, shade, etc. The only difference is the close icon in upper right corner of the window is active.

Let us know what you think about this new feature, and different ways you use it.
