Teamcenter Visualization has the ability to compare two drawings and see what has changed.

The Drawing Compare Process is Very Simple

In VisView choose File->Open and select the CGM of the first drawing

Then choose File->Insert and select the second CGM
Notice VisView has created 2 Markup Layers

If you click on the round nodes in the Project Workspace you can turn the layers off and on. If the 2D Compare toolbar does not appear, choose View->Toolbars to turn it on. The first icon in the toolbar is to Compare 2 Layers. When you activate this icon the other icons will become active. The will also create a third layer where you can see both drawings. The first layer is set to Red, The second layer is set to Green. The third layer is the compare layer where which will display Black for the common elements between both drawings. You can display one layer at a time or a three by choosing the next 4 icons. There is also an icon to delete the compare layer. The last icon you can set your preferences for the compare.

Creating CGM files of NX Drawings

JT Open License information

JT Open is a platform for visualization, collaboration and data sharing across product lifecycle (via JTOpen.com). The most common use for this so far is converting a CAD file into a common lightweight JT file format. Then this file can be used to build lightweight assemblies and other representations. Then use this to build assembly documentations, animation of assembly sequences, and what-if scenarios for non-expert CAD users. This vision has grown to add jt files directly into the CAD system. That means it breaks the dependency of suppliers to all the same version and same companies CAD system. This in its self is a great benefit to suppliers. They no longer need to keep multiple CAD systems maintained and users trained on the different systems. They can find the one that best suits their needs, is the least costly to maintain, and easiest to use.

The vision of JT is further extended by using this information in non visual ways. Using the JT files as data stores for enterprise and machinery programs. The information in the file can be used by a CMM (coordinate measuring machine) for example to find out the GD&T (geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing) tolerances on the faces. Also the enterprise can extract information about the weight, material, etc of the part to do some cost and bidding.

Encapsulating the 3D JT file in with documents, presentations, and spreadsheets can be accomplished with JT2Go product.

From the web site “JT2Go enables anyone to view JT files. And with JT2Go 5.1.0.3a, you can share JT files directly in the context of your standard Office documents.” JT2Go is a free viewer.
