When you create a new Item in Teamcenter Portal, it assignes it based on a naming rule. There is a default rule for this, but usually not a name any corportation can use without changes. Once possible solution is for each person that creates a new item to name it accordingly to how it should be set (which is full of possible user errors) or have Portal assign the names according to your company naming conventions. How to enable True Shape in NX3
Enable "True Shape" in NX 3
You need to edit the customer defaults in order to enable it.
Modify Customer Defaults File
Start NX3
File -> Utilities -> Customer Defaults
Assemblies (section) -> Site Standards (sub section) -> True Shape (tab)Set the following:
Cell Units = (Millimeters or Inches)
Cell size = (some positive value)
Generate Component Shape Representations on Save = checked
Ok the dialog to apply the changes, Close NX and restart NX
Set Save Option
Create a new part or open and exisiting part
File -> Options -> Save Options
"Save True Shape Data" is enabled
toggle it on
Ok the dialog
Enable it in the assembly
Option Preferences -> Assemblies "True Shape Filtering"
toggle it on
Ok the dialog True Shape is now enabled and created when you save the parts.
What is "True Shape"? True Shape spatial filtering generates component shape representations (.tso) on part save when this default is enabled.More info on using True Shape in another article
